Timothy Bradley healthy, may not fight again in 2012

WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley said that skipping a Dec. 15 fight date is becoming more and more likely but that it will have nothing to do with the foot injuries he suffered in his last fight.

Bradley, a Cathedral City resident, said in an exclusive telephone interview Thursday morning that he has been training since the start of October and his foot is fine. But he felt it was important to respond to comments made by his promoter, Bob Arum.

Arum, in Los Angeles to promote Saturday’s HBO fights, told that Bradley could pass on fighting Dec. 15 because of the foot.

Bradley told The Desert Sun that he has not ruled out Dec. 15 yet, but said it is starting to look more unlikely. But Bradley began training at the start of the month with no issues with his foot and wanted to emphasize that.

“My foot is fine. I’ve been training for the past couple weeks,” Bradley said. “There’s nothing wrong with my foot.

“I’ll be back getting my sexy back, my swag back and I’ll be ready for anyone they have.”

What hasn’t been working out for Bradley is the leading candidate to fight him, a rematch against Lamont Peterson. In 2009 at The Show inside Agua Caliente Spa Resort Casino in Rancho Mirage, Bradley dominated Peterson and nearly shut him out on the judges’ scorecards.
